Pate is completing his Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Adventure Business and Entrepreneurship at TRU. He is in the process of finishing his undergraduate research project supervised by Courtney. It focuses on conflict resolution strategies for multi-use trail systems. His research seeks to help facility managers better integrate new trail users to existing trail systems, specifically looking at the introduction of fat bikes to cross-country ski facilities. Pate is an aspiring ski guide, and during the summers he works as a hiking and paddling guide in Kootenay National Park.  Pate recently received the Undergraduate Research Experience Award (2017).
