Heather completed her Masters of Arts in Human Kinetics under the supervision of Michael Robidoux and Courtney Mason. Heather was a recipient of both the Students for Canada’s North scholarship, and the Alex Trebek Innovation and Challenge Fund. With this funding she helped initiate a community greenhouse project in the community of Wapekeka First Nation in Northern Ontario. Through this project, she conducted research focusing on Indigenous food security in remote First Nations, particularly in respect to understanding local food procurement as a means of addressing food insecurity in the north.
